Science starts with Science 8–10, where biology is just one of many topics in short units. Students learn basics like cells, life processes, cell division, genes, energy, and how living things connect to the environment, while doing more labs and work. Life Sciences 11 is the first course focused mainly on biology which covers cells, genetics, microorganisms, plants, animals, and ecology, with an option that goes deeper into topics like evolution and photosynthesis. Anatomy and Physiology 12 builds on this by focusing on human biology, including DNA, proteins, mutations, cancer, and body systems, which is a version adding more advanced details. AP Biology 12 is the most advanced course which is similar to first-year college biology with heavy lab work and topics like evolution, gene expression, photosynthesis, and data analysis.
